A Practical Hobby the Whole Family Can Enjoy

Finding things to do as a family is always a tough ask, and this has only been amplified by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. No longer can you do a lot of the usual activities that many took for granted, such as going to the movies or travelling. Now there is a real increase in the need for at-home activities, which is why candle making has gone through a resurgence. If you are looking for a hobby that everyone can enjoy then here are a few reasons why you should load up on candle making supplies.
1. Technical Ability
For those that are more technically minded and enjoy activities like woodwork and metalwork, candle making can scratch the same itch. There is a lot of experimentation that you can do, with the wicks, wax, moulds and much more. It can be as hard, or as easy, as you want it to be, which makes it great for people of all ages (although children should be supervised at all times). Many people find that they enjoy the challenge of making new and unique candles from the same candle making supplies, and this can be a fun challenge for you and your family.
2. Fragrances for the Whole House
Candles have grown in popularity partly due to the number of fragrances that are now mixed into the wax so that the candles give off a nice scent as they burn. If you want to make your own uniquely perfumed candles then there a whole plethora of options that you can choose from. If you are feeling a little more confident in your abilities you can even experiment with multiple smells at the same time, or perhaps add some of your own ingredients from home. There are also many tutorials online that you can follow to get specific smells out of your candle.
3. Great as Gifts or to Sell
Unlike many other hobbies that don't really impact other people, candle making can be a great hobby to involve other people in. Either by giving your family and friends their own candle making supplies or by making special candles for them for their birthday. Perhaps a candle in their favourite shape or with a smell that they really love. Either way, candles make very thoughtful gifts when they are personally made. If you end up enjoying candle making enough sometimes people will start-up small businesses or at least add them to their current stock. It doesn't take a lot of room or effort to try this if you feel passionate enough.
